2024 Ojude Oba Festival is one of the trending conversations online as too much steeze and composure were displayed by people of Ijebuland at the festival.
Ojude Oba (The King’s Forecourt) is a historic festival celebrated by the Yoruba people of Ijebu-Ode, a prominent town in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria. This annual event typically occurs on the third day following Eid al-Kabir (Ileya), and is dedicated to paying homage and showing respect to the Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland.
During the festivities, various cultural age groups known as regberegbe, which include indigenes, their friends, and associates, parade in front of the king’s palace on the third day of Eid al-Kabir.
Each group, comprising both male and female members, dresses in the season’s most luxurious clothing. They don bright-colored traditional attires made from fabrics such as sanyan, alaari, etu, and adire, as well as more contemporary brocades and laces.
This year’s festival was no exception, with the groups appearing regal and flamboyant in their vibrant outfits.
