Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has voiced his outrage over the incident involving Stephen Abuwatseya and Alex Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member for Aba North/South in Abia State.
On October 28, Ikwechegh allegedly assaulted Abuwatseya, a Bolt driver delivering a package to him. In a viral video recorded by Abuwatseya at Ikwechegh’s mansion in Maitama, Abuja, the visibly angry congressman is seen repeatedly hitting and cursing the driver after he asked Ikwechegh to step outside to collect a delivery of snails.
After the incident, Ikwechegh issued a public apology, acknowledging his actions and expressing regret for his behavior during the confrontation.
Upon learning of the incident, VeryDarkMan actively worked to secure justice and compensation for Stephen Abuwatseya.
However, on Thursday, November 7, Abuwatseya, the e-hailing driver, released a video message apologizing to Alex Ikwechegh for provoking him and asking Nigerians for forgiveness, urging everyone to move past the event.
In response to Abuwatseya’s apology, VeryDarkMan recounted how he and his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, had put significant effort into holding Ikwechegh accountable for his alleged actions.
VeryDarkMan explained that Alex Ikwechegh and his associates only reached out to offer compensation when the issue gained traction online.

He proposed that the driver receive N20 million and a car as compensation, but Ikwechegh countered with an offer of N5 million and a car.
VDM expressed disappointment, alleging that the driver went behind their backs to build a relationship with Ikwechegh. He voiced his dismay over the new apology, which he believes was coerced.
VeryDarkMan also pointed out that Abuwatseya ultimately chose to side against those who had supported him during the height of the controversy.
