Renowned indigenous Igbo singer Kcee, whose real name is Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, has recently confronted his fellow artist, Flavour, for calling him a ‘Copycat’.
This comes after the release of Kcee’s latest song dubbed, ‘Netfliss’, which is rumored to sample Flavour’s hit track, Doings.
Checkout Kcee and Flavour’s songs below:
It all began when fans noticed resemblances between Kcee’s new track and Flavour’s style. Flavour then subtly addressed the issue on his X handle, writing, “Copy copy akaria”, which implies “too much copying.”
In no time, Kcee responded directly on the micro-blogging page, throwing strong shade back at Flavour in reaction to the accusation.
In his response, the ‘Ojapiano’ crooner pointed out that the Igbo music style is not exclusive to any one artist and can not be “gatekept.”
However, Kcee warned Flavour to choose his battles wisely, adding that they are “not on the same level.”

He replied, “BRO!!!!!! We are not on the same level. Pick your Battles carefully. Stop trying to gatekeep Igbo culture. You’re not a Custodian. I’ve been in this game before you. It belongs to all. You dent own this genre of music. My music celebrates our heritage, and I won’t apologize. In an ocean of things that matter. You’re like a needle. People recognize authenticity. I’ll continue celebrating our culture unapologetically. Spend your energy on success, not diminishing mine. I’ve never been the type to go head-to-head, but I’m calling out this bullshit because I won’t be disrespected… No way… I’ve come too far for anyone to downplay my sweats and hard work. HELL NO!!!!”
This heated exchange has drawn considerable attention from fans, sparking debates about originality and influence in the industry.
