A former member representing Edu/ Patigi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from Kwara State, Hon. Aliyu Ahman- Pategi is dead.
The founder of Ahman-Pategi University, Pategi, in Kwara North, died on Thursday, October 24, at National Hospital in Abuja
He was also a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the build-up to the 2019 general elections in Kwara state.

The Ahman-Pategi family in a terse statement posted on social media platforms, announced the death of their son.
The statement reads: “Innalillahi waina ilahi raj’una, Hon. Aliyu Bahago Is Dead
“May Hon. Aliyu Bahago’s soul rest in peace. He was a notable figure in Nigeria, serving as a member of the House of Representatives and Pro- chancellor of Ahman Pategi University in Patigi, Nigeria.
“His contributions to education and politics will be remembered. May his family and loved ones find comfort during this difficult time.”

Kwara governor Abdulrazaq mourns
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is shocked and saddened over the death of former House of Representatives member Hon. Aliyu Bahago Ahman-Pategi.
Governor Abdulrazaq, who has joined the family at the National Hospital where the former congressman died in Abuja, sends his heartfelt condolences to His Royal Highness the Etsu Patigi Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, the people of Patigi Local Government Area, and the Ahman-Pategis on this sad event.
Governor Abdulrazaq says Hon. Bahago would be remembered for his many investments that uplifted different people, including those he facilitated as a congressman and those he built as a community leader, such as the Ahman Pategi University (APU).
“We are sad and devastated at the death of the Galadiman Patigi, but we surrender to the will of Allaah, our maker and nourisher. To that extent, we ask Allaah to forgive Hon. Aliyu Bahago, admit him to al-jannah Firdaus, and give his family the patience to live with this harsh reality,” the Governor says.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has commiserated with the management, staff, and students of Ahman Pategi University, Patigi, on the death of its founder and Pro-Chancellor, Hon. Aliyu Bahago Ahman Pategi.

In a statement issued by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, on Friday (October 25, 2024), Prof. Egbewole, who is also the Chairman of the Consortium of Kwara Universities (KU8+), described the death of Hon. Pategi, the proprietor of a prominent member-university of the Consortium, as a rude shock and a sad loss.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the death of Alhaji Ahman Patigi, who was a former Member of the House of Representatives, is a great loss not only to the deceased’s family but also to Kwara State, and the nation’s university system and particularly to KU8+.
Prof. Egbewole also commiserated with the Etsu Pategi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi, and the entire people of Patigi Emirate on the death of an illustrious son and a shining light of the Emirate, saying that the late former federal lawmaker’s contributions to the promotion of education and advancement of his people’s general well-being would not be forgotten in a hurry.
The Vice-Chancellor prayed to Almighty Allah to overlook the shortcomings of the late politician, philanthropist, and statesman and comfort all the family members and associates he left behind.
